ABOUT US
Founded in 1980 by Dr Norman Ritchie, a lecturer in animal nutrition at University of Glasgow
Our Story
We are a British family manufacturing business based in Clydebank, Scotland. Specialising in the production of sustained release trace element and vitamin ruminant boluses.

Our product was conceived and eventually crafted as a result of a decade of research and development by the late Dr. Norman Ritchie and his colleagues at the University of Glasgow during the 1980’s. As a scholar and a lecturer in agricultural nutrition, Dr Ritchie believed the ruminant bolus could impact the lives of millions of farmers and cows worldwide.
He started our manufacturing business in 1988 and to this day our boluses are considered to be the industry gold standard, selling almost 35 million boluses globally from New Zealand to Canada, the Azores to Finland and everywhere in between. Rumbol Products manufacture the globally renowned rigid skin boluses which are tried, tested and relied on by farmers throughout the world. The unique design of our boluses erode from one end resulting in a steady surface area and dissolution rate. The boluses optimise growth rates in young cattle, ease calvings, help grow strong healthy calves, reduce the calving spread and optimise general condition in cattle. Active components include copper, cobalt, selenium, manganese, zinc, iodine, and vitamins A, D3 and E.
